Science remains largely male-dominated,
especially at senior career stages.
Is enough being done to support others in pursuing, enjoying, and staying in science?

...

Our mission is to
inspire, connect, and advocate
for women* and girls*
interested in neuroscience.
What we do

Since 2022, we have grown from an idea into a mighty volunteer team spanning neuroscience subtopics and career stages. Together, we produce engaging blogs, impactful social media posts, informative newsletters, and exciting virtual events to bring together our diverse community.

Our content covers a wide range of topics, from fundamental brain science to career advice to advocacy for gender equity in neuroscience research and treatment. We reach not just people across the UK, but audiences worldwide (hello wherever you are joining us from!).

By amplifying the voices of underrepresented groups, we aim to shed light on the challenges faced by women in neuroscience to foster a collective determination for positive change. We are proud to provide spaces for female* neuroscientists to share their authentic experiences and offer advice to other women and girls pursuing neuroscience-related careers.

To enhance the success of women in science, we also provide opportunities for our community to boost confidence, hone science communication skills, deepen scientific knowledge, learn from role models and expand networks.

* WiNUK uses an inclusive definition of “woman”, "girl" and “female”, welcoming trans women, genderqueer women, and non-binary people.
Others are invited to contribute to discussions and advocate for WiNUK, for example through subscribing to our newsletter, attending our events that are promoted for all genders, following us on social media and initiating important conversations about gender bias in your workplace.

Join us on this journey towards gender equity in neuroscience.
Together, we can make a lasting impact and create a more diverse and inclusive scientific landscape.
